Continuous Capacity Expansion of Small and Medium-Sized AMOLED May Lead to Oversupply, Says TrendForce

The global production capacity of small- and medium-sized AMOLED panels continues to expand, and will reach 13.6 million m2 by 2018, an increase of 51.1% compared with the previous year, says WitsView, a division of TrendForce. As Chinese panel makers continue to release new capacity, the global capacity of small- and medium-sized AMOLED panels may double to 27.3 million m2 in 2021.

A notification released on May 31st 2018 by China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Ministry of Finance, and National Energy Administration (NEA) provides new regulation for PV industry in China, which may influence various types of PV projects. EnergyTrend, a division of TrendForce, estimates that the new regulation will likely slash the domestic PV demand in China to 29~35GW. Consequently, the demand in global PV industry will see negative growth for the first time, decreasing to less than 100GW. The new policy imposes considerable pressure to the supply chain, and the prices have begun to drop.

Chinese Providers Earn 26.9% of the Projected Revenue of Top 10 OSAT Providers for 1H18, Hitting a New Record High, Says TrendForce

The total revenue from the global top 10 providers of outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) service for 1H18 is estimated to grow by 10.5% YoY, reaching US$11.12 billion, reports TrendForce. Particularly, JCET, TSHT and TFME, the major three Chinese OSAT providers, are projected to represent a share of 26.9% in the total revenue of the top 10 providers in 1H18, hitting a new record high.
