2 October 2019

In this press release, TrendForce provides predictions of the information and communication technology industry for 2020, focusing on 10 key themes.

Annual Decline for Feed-in Tariff Should be Set at 4% in Order to Meet 2025 PV Installation Goals, Says TrendForce

19 August 2019

According to the latest “Solar Powering Taiwan: Special Report” by EnergyTrend, a division of TrendForce, Taiwan's PV installations made it past the 1GW mark for the first time in 2018, attracting many investors to set up PV power plants in Taiwan. The Bureau of Energy has therefore increased their installation goal for 2019 to 1.5GW. In order to reach this goal, they will be focusing on four big areas: Taiwan Sugar demonstration projects; industrial factory roofing promotion projects; large developer promotion projects; and projects applied for approval in 2018.

HEVs Already an International Trend, With China's Electric Cars Moving Towards Diversification, Says TrendForce

1 August 2019

Thanks to China's new point-based quota system for new energy vehicles and the enlarging scale of European, American and Japanese markets, opportunities in the HEV market have attracted much interest. EnergyTrend, a division of TrendForce, predicts that global HEV market share will reach 5% in 2019, whereas that for pure electric vehicles will stand at only 2%.

Global Demand for PV Modules Temporarily Decreases in 3Q19, but Annual Demand May Still Go Above 120GW, Says TrendForce

17 July 2019

Ever since China's 531 New Policy came into effect back in 2018, Chinese manufacturers impacted by the policy actively sought expansion overseas in order to lessen the risks from the policy. Adding that the distribution of global markets is becoming more diverse and dispersed, we see global demand for PV modules being pushed up as a result. EnergyTrend, a division of TrendForce, gives the following outlook for 2H19: Clients will slightly reduce pull-ins for 3Q, but this is expected to be a temporary state of rest for the market, which may still see demand for the whole 2019 year rise above 120GW.

Lithium Batteries Increasingly Used as UPSs in Datacenters Due to High Cost-Performance Ratio, Says TrendForce

5 June 2019

As the datacenter market continues to grow, UPS demand receives a boost. According to statistics by EnergyTrend , a division of TrendForce , sealed lead acid (SLA) batteries remain the most widely used UPSs for datacenters. Yet lithium batteries possess advantages such as a long lifespan, quick charge/discharge speeds and a small volume, and are poised to replace SLA batteries in the future. By 2019, lithium batteries comprise 12% of batteries used in datacenters. This percentage is predicted to grow to 16% in 2020.
