The global market has suffered from debt crisis in Europe, slow economic recovery in Northern America, earthquake in Japan, and inflation issues all over the world leading to apparent lack of consumer confidence. According to the observation on slim products by the research institution WitsView under TrendForce, along with the hot sales of Tablet PCs and mid-to-small size products, thinner and lighter product design has gradually become the mainstream driving to the demand for slim panels.
According to the latest TV set shipment and TV panel demand survey by WitsView and Σintell, China’s Top 6 TV brand vendors purchased a total of 3.174 million TV panels in May11, up by 5.3% MoM. Meanwhile, their TV set shipments during the same month amounted to 2.643 million units, down by 19% MoM.
Computex this year is a huge parade of Tablet PCs. In addition to products introduced by all major brands, system makers with NB as major OEM/ODM products also introduced a series of prototype machines hoping to establish new collaborations with customers willing to enter Tablet PC markets.
Based on the latest large-size panel shipment report published by WitsView, which is the panel study department under TrendForce, indicates the large-size panel shipment volume for May, 2011 was 60.98 million units, with an increase of 8.2% as compared to April.
