[Insights] Memory Spot Price Update: DDR5 Sees Sporadic Buying Interest; DDR4 Price Cuts Fail to Revive Demand

2026-04-29 Semiconductors editor

According to TrendForce’s latest memory spot price trend report, in terms of DRAM, only DDR5 chips saw sporadic buying interest. DDR4 demand remained weak, with price cuts failing to revive purchasing activity. In the NAND flash segment, spot prices continued to drop over the past month, now arriving at an accumulated reduction of 30-40%, primarily due to buyers’ low willingness in procurement on the exorbitant level of spot prices previously. Details are as follows:

DRAM Spot Price:

The spot market this week continued its conservative tone, with buyers mostly engaged in price inquiries rather than actual purchases, reflecting weak buying intent. Only DDR5 chips from DRAM suppliers managed to sustain sporadic buying interest. As for DDR4 chips, subdued demand meant that even as suppliers adjusted quotes downward, they were unable to effectively stimulate buying interest. Overall, spot prices continued their downward trend, with transaction activities remaining sluggish. The average spot price of the mainstream chips (i.e., DDR4 1Gx8 3200MT/s) slightly decreased by 0.91% from US$32.80 last week (April 22) to US$32.5 this week (April 28).

NAND Flash Spot Price:

Spot prices continued to drop over the past month, now arriving at an accumulated reduction of 30-40%, primarily due to buyers’ low willingness in procurement on the exorbitant level of spot prices previously. Furthermore, some of the spot traders, on account of pressure from capital turnover, are lowering their prices to improve on cash flow, which affected market confidence. This move aroused an anticipation on subsequent price drops among buyers with substantial demand, who are now generally on the fence, and thus led to the exceedingly lethargic momentum of market transactions. Spot prices of 512Gb TLC wafers dropped by 1.82% this week (April 27), arriving at US$20.590.
