OLED TV and QLED TV have been competing for years, but OLED TV is expected to remain its remarkable dominance in high-end TV market in 2018, says WitsView, a division of TrendForce. More brands are expected to enter OLED TV market in 2018 with a growing field rate, and the shipments are expected to reach a new high of 2.5 million units, a significant increase from 1.5 million in 2017.

Market research firm TrendForce reports that the global notebook shipments for this third quarter registered a remarkable quarterly increase of 6.8% and a year-on-year increase of 0.9%, reaching 42.69 million units. The overall performance of notebook shipments brought by peak season exceeded the previous expectations.

TrendForce’s latest analysis of the global smartphone market finds that sales are growing again due to the effects of the year-end busy season. The global smartphone production volume for the third quarter of 2017 totaled 384 million units, registering a year-on-year increase of 6%. Chinese brands together posted a much higher year-on-year growth of 20%. In terms of ranking by production volume, Samsung, Apple, Huawei, OPPO and Vivo still held their respective positions in the top five for the third quarter, while Xiaomi followed at sixth place.

TrendForce Says Global Tablet Market Is at the Point of Recovery; Total Annual Shipments to Rise by 0.3% for 2018 After Four Years of Decline

The tablet market has undergone four consecutive years of downward correction from 2014 to 2017 and is showing signs of bottoming out. Latest analysis from TrendForce estimates that the global tablet shipments for 2017 will total around 148.9 million units, registering a more moderate drop of 5.4% compared with the 2016 result. Looking ahead to 2018, major tablet brands are expected to see their shipment declines ease. At the same time, Amazon, Huawei and other relatively new market entrants will continue in their rise. In sum, global shipments are projected to recover next year, rising by 0.3% annually to around 149.3 million units.
