[Insights] Memory Spot Price Update: DDR3 Strength Contrasts Weak DDR4/ DDR5 Amid High Prices, Soft Demand

2026-04-01 Semiconductors editor

According to TrendForce’s latest memory spot price trend report, regarding DRAM, momentum in both DDR4 and DDR5 remains weak, as end-user demand continues to struggle with elevated price levels, while 2Q26 contract pricing has yet to be formally announced. Meanwhile, in terms of NAND, module houses would only implement small purchases when prices are far below market prices, which led to a halt in momentum between market participants. Details are as follows:

DRAM Spot Price:

This week, the DRAM spot market showed weak momentum for DDR4 and DDR5, as end-user demand struggled to absorb elevated prices, and 2Q26 contract prices have yet to be formally announced. Although suppliers adopted aggressive price reduction strategies, module makers only made small-volume purchases when prices fell significantly below prevailing market levels, resulting in a stalemate between buyers and sellers that has stalled market momentum. In contrast, the DDR3 market has shown relative strength, supported by its price advantage and sporadic urgent orders, actual buying interest continued to emerge at lower price points, with prices for chips from various brands maintaining a steady upward trajectory. The average spot price of the mainstream chips (i.e., DDR4 1Gx8 3200MT/s) slightly decreased by 0.12% from US$34.00 last week (March 25) to US$33.96 this week (March 31).

NAND Flash Spot Price:

The spot market of NAND is rather sluggish this week. Sellers have been active in lowering their prices as end demand is unable to sustain the price hikes, and that contract prices for 2Q26 have yet to be officially released. Having said that, module houses would only implement small purchases when prices are far below market prices. This led to a halt in momentum between market participants. Spot prices of 512Gb TLC wafers dropped by 2.97% this week (March 30), arriving at US$22.155.
