[Insights] Memory Spot Price Update: DRAM Spots Pause Amid Samsung’s March DDR4 Freeze

2026-03-18 Semiconductors editor

According to TrendForce’s latest memory spot price trend report, regarding DRAM, with Samsung pausing DDR4 consumer chip price hikes in March, increases are expected to stall briefly before picking up again in 2Q26. Meanwhile, in terms of NAND, with the expectation on significant increases on contract prices going on, spot prices could potentially stabilize and ascend, followed by a new round of price hikes. Details are as follows:

DRAM Spot Price:

Following the Lunar New Year, a wait-and-see atmosphere persists in the spot market, but prices remain supported, with DDR3 showing relatively stronger upward momentum. For DDR4, as Samsung has temporarily frozen its pricing for consumer DDR4 chips in March, price increases are assessed to temporarily stagnate until upward momentum resumes in 2Q26. The average spot price of mainstream chips (i.e., DDR4 1Gx8 3200MT/s) has increased by 1.44% from US$33.40 last week to US$33.88 this week.

NAND Flash Spot Price:

Spot prices are currently fluctuating, though the market is generally optimistic towards how the increase of contract prices would continue to expand for the next quarter, as negotiations on contract prices for the new quarter approach. With the expectation on significant increases on contract prices going on, spot prices could potentially stabilize and ascend, followed by a new round of price hikes. Spot prices of 512Gb TLC wafers dropped by 0.58% this week, arriving at US$23.000.
