While Taiwan’s Acer has become the first laptop maker to unveil a device powered by Intel’s 18A-based Panther Lake, Samsung is reportedly preparing to also deploy the new processor in its upcoming models. According to Wccftech, shipping manifests reviewed by sources suggest that Samsung is readying Panther Lake-based laptops, though the company has yet to confirm or showcase such devices. The report adds that Panther Lake-based Samsung Galaxy notebooks may launch before the end of this year or in early 2026.
Further details on the shipment remain unclear. The report indicates that the chips could be either Panther Lake-H or Panther Lake-U, depending on which configuration Samsung chooses for its initial batch of laptops.
Currently, Samsung’s Galaxy notebooks are equipped with Arrow Lake-U chips, and the report suggests the company will transition to Panther Lake-U in upcoming models to improve portability and power efficiency.
Intel’s 18A Progress
In late August, Intel also unveiled its next-generation Xeon processor, Clearwater Forest, which is built on 18A and scheduled for mass production in 2026, according to the Commercial Times. Tom’s Hardware notes that Clearwater Forest marks one of the first deployments of Intel’s 18A node, which uses RibbonFET transistors and backside power delivery.
As Economic Daily News explains, Intel previously outsourced production of its Lunar Lake mobile chips and Arrow Lake desktop processors to TSMC due to yield challenges with the 18A process. Panther Lake, however, marks a return to Intel’s own fabs, and whether Intel can meet its timeline to begin volume shipments in early 2026 will be a key milestone closely watched by the industry.
