[News] TSMC August Revenue Tops NT$500B for First Time, Sets Record for Fourth Straight Month
Apple’s rollout of the iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, all powered by A20 Pro chips built on TSMC’s 2nm process, is giving its foundry partner a major boost. The launch comes as TSMC posted record August revenue of NT$514.8 billion, up 10.1% MoM and 53.3% YoY, according to its press release.
Notably, TSMC’s August sales hit a record high for the fourth consecutive month, while monthly revenue topped NT$500 billion for the first time, the Economic Daily News reports. According to Central News Agency, TSMC forecasts its third-quarter revenue of US$44.6 billion to US$45.8 billion, up 12% sequentially at the midpoint.
Against this backdrop, TSMC is also edging closer to its full-year growth target, as Chairman C.C. Wei expects US dollar revenue to grow by more than 40% in 2026. Revenue for January through August totaled NT$3.39 trillion, up 39.3% YoY, according to the company.
According to TrendForce, the foundry giant has seen strong demand for AI server GPUs and XPUs, which kept its 5/4nm and 3nm capacities fully booked. Additionally, the initial inventory buildup for new iPhones supported sales, and 2nm contributed revenue for the first time, TrendForce notes, adding that these combined factors resulted in quarter-over-quarter growth in both wafer shipments and ASPs.
The momentum further strengthened TSMC’s dominance in the global foundry market. TrendForce estimates that its second-quarter sales share already climbed to 72.5% from 72.3%, well ahead of Samsung at 5.9% and SMIC at 5.4%.
