[Insights] Memory Spot Price Update: Kingston Leads DRAM Surge as DDR4, DDR5 and Modules Hold Strong

2025-12-24 Semiconductors editor

According to TrendForce’s latest memory spot price trend report, regarding DRAM, DDR4, DDR5 chips and modules continue climbing daily, though gains have eased slightly. Kingston, the top module supplier, implemented substantial DRAM price hikes this week, with overall spot prices showing no signs of weakness. Meanwhile, in NAND, the spot market is leaning towards a bullish sentiment under the expectation of increasing contract prices. Details are as follows:

DRAM Spot Price:

Spot prices of DDR4 chips, DDR5 chips, and modules continue to rise daily, though the rate of increase has subsided somewhat from earlier levels. However, analysis suggests that this is not due to easing supply shortages, but rather a temporary phenomenon as some intermediate traders release more inventory for year-end accounting purposes. Kingston, holding the largest market share among module houses, implemented substantial DRAM price hikes this week, with overall spot prices showing no signs of weakness. The average spot price of mainstream chips (i.e., DDR4 1Gx8 3200MT/s) has increased by 9.52% from US$19.86 last week (Dec.17) to US$21.75 this week (Dec. 23).

NAND Flash Spot Price:

The spot market is leaning towards a bullish sentiment under the expectation of increasing contract prices. Some of the spot traders, who are optimistic on subsequent price trends, have decided to delay their releases of inventory, and are becoming reluctant in sales. This further constrained the availability of products circulating on the market, and resulted in ongoing price increment of wafer spots, with pressure of additional hikes persisting at the same time. Spot prices of 512Gb TLC wafers have risen by 19.73% this week, arriving at US$11.517.
