[Insights] Memory Spot Price Update: SK hynix, Micron Push DDR4 Last Buys as Phase-Out Boosts Q3 Prices

2025-06-18 Semiconductors editor

According to TrendForce’s latest memory spot price trend report, regarding DRAM, SK hynix and Micron are currently in last-time buy negotiations with DDR4 customers, pushing spot prices higher as contract prices are set to rise in Q3 2025. As for NAND flash, recent market rumors on China’s stern approach towards smuggling of imported memory products has conservatized market sentiment, and resulted in a significant reduction in the willingness of stocking up among buyers. Details are as follows:

DRAM Spot Price:

DDR4 products are still the category experiencing the largest price hikes in the spot market, with modules surpassing chips in terms of price increases. This trend indicates that a substantial portion of older processor platforms and device models still need DDR4 for memory support. Currently, both SK hynix and Micron are actively negotiating last-time buy agreements with customers. Therefore, spot prices of DDR4 products are expected to continue rising on the back of contract price hikes in 3Q25. The average spot price of mainstream chips (i.e., DDR4 1Gx8 3200MT/s) has increased by 22.2% from US$3.421 last week to US$4.182 this week.

NAND Flash Spot Price:

The wafer market continues to linger amidst sluggishness, with most prices maintaining at the initial level of quotations. Recent market rumors are pointing to how China’s stern approach towards smuggling of imported memory products has conservatized market sentiment, and resulted in a significant reduction in the willingness of stocking up among buyers. Most market participants are currently on the fence, and have thus yet to expand in transactions. Spot prices of 512Gb TLC wafers dropped by 0.52% this week, arriving at US$2.693.
