Semiconductor prices are moving higher, as Chinese chipmakers issue price hike notices across select product lines. According to Cailian Press, two semiconductor companies, Cmsemicon and Goke Microelectronics, have successively released price increase letters, stating that prices for some of their chip products will be raised to varying degrees.

As the report notes, Cmsemicon announced that it has decided to adjust prices for products including MCUs and NOR Flash, effective immediately, with increases ranging from 15% to 50%. The company added that prices will be adjusted again should costs undergo further significant changes.

Regarding the reasons behind the price hikes, the report says Cmsemicon explained in its price increase notice released on Jan. 27 that industry-wide chip supply tightness and rising costs have lengthened delivery cycles for packaged finished products, pushing costs sharply higher than before.

The report also notes that Cmsemicon only recently announced its entry into the memory sector on the 20th of this month, as it launches its first low-power 4Mbit SPI NOR Flash chip to fill a gap in its Flash product lineup, according to its press release. Cmsemicon is a leading Chinese intelligent control solution provider with a focus on MCU design and sales, the report adds.

In addition to Cmsemicon, the report notes that Goke Microelectronics has issued price increase notices to customers, stating that price hikes for certain products will take effect starting in January 2026. Under the plan, prices for 512Mb KGD (known-good die) package products will rise by 40%, 1Gb KGD packages by 60%, and 2Gb KGD packages by 80%, while pricing for products using external DDR will be announced separately.

Behind the Latest Semiconductor Price Increases

The latest round of semiconductor price increases reflects the combined impact of multiple cost pressures. As highlighted by Mydrivers, prices of key raw materials such as silver, copper, and tin have risen sharply, driving up manufacturing costs. At the same time, prices for materials including copper-clad laminates and films have also increased, with some categories seeing hikes of more than 30%. Downstream segments are being affected as well, with suppliers of core components such as capacitors and resistors issuing price adjustment notices and joining the current wave of increases, Mydrivers adds.

Meanwhile, as noted by Commercial Times, China’s leading foundries SMIC and Hua Hong have raised quotes for their 8-inch wafer lines, driven by strategic shifts among global players and surging demand for AI-related chips, with price increases ranging from 10% to 20%.
