[Insights] Panel Prices in Early August: TV Panel Market Gains Momentum as Smaller Sizes Lead Recovery

TrendForce discloses the latest panel prices for early August, with details as follows.

Entering August, TV brand clients are stocking up for year-end promotions while still hoping to meet annual targets, maintaining strong momentum in TV panel procurement. Panel manufacturers are capitalizing on this opportunity, signaling optimism about price stabilization and potential increases.

Current observations show demand for 50-inch TV panels and below has strengthened significantly, driven by India’s Diwali promotions and recovering Chinese domestic demand. However, demand for 55+ inch panels remains weak as brands continue inventory adjustments.

For August TV panel pricing, 32-inch, 43-inch, and 50-inch panels are expected to stabilize first, while 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch panels are projected to drop by $1, with the decline moderating.

As the third quarter gets underway, MNT panel demand has slightly softened and upward price momentum has temporarily faded. Some brands are now weighing the chances of a price drop, but most MNT panels are still being sold at a loss. Without profit incentives, panel makers are reluctant to ramp up output—leading to shortages in some mainstream sizes due to tight supply. In this standoff, both buyers and sellers appear content with price stability, and August MNT panel prices are expected to stay flat across the board.

NB panel demand looks set to stay steady through August, with some brands even showing stronger-than-expected pull. This has given them more leverage in pricing talks, hoping to secure extra under-the-table discounts.

However, panel makers have little room left for concessions on mainstream models, and are mostly making adjustments through higher-end specs where some flexibility still exists. As a result, official prices for key NB panel sizes are expected to remain flat in August, while any under-the-table deals will depend on individual brand relationships.
