According to Economic Daily News, citing Bloomberg, sources indicate that Apple’s upcoming annual product launch will set the stage for three consecutive years of major iPhone redesigns.
iPhone 17 Series Based on TSMC’s N3P
Notably, the iPhone 17 series, expected to debut this fall, is projected to give TSMC a boost. As highlighted by Commercial Times, industry sources note that the lineup will consist of four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will feature the A19 chip, while the Pro and Pro Max models will use the A19 Pro chip— all manufactured on TSMC’s N3P process.
Commercial Times also points to other significant upgrades, including indications that the Pro models will adopt vapor chambers in place of graphite sheets to enhance heat dissipation. Memory capacity is likewise set for an upgrade, with the iPhone 17 equipped with 8GB of RAM, while the other three models move up to 12GB.
From iPhone 17 Air to iPhone 20: Bold Redesigns Ahead
As Economic Daily News, citing Bloomberg, notes, Apple has planned a three-year cycle of major iPhone redesigns, beginning this September with the launch of the ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air. Bloomberg adds that the iPhone 17 Air will also incorporate Apple’s first in-house modem chip, replacing Qualcomm’s versions.
The report highlights that the truly groundbreaking product will be Apple’s first foldable iPhone, slated for release in 2026 under the internal code name V68. The device is expected to resemble Samsung’s foldables, with a book-style design that unfolds into a small tablet, the report notes.
According to TrendForce, Apple is likely to launch its first foldable phone in the second half of next year, featuring a 5.5-inch external display and a 7.8-inch internal display. If confirmed, Apple’s entry is expected to significantly boost consumer interest and acceptance of foldables, particularly among high-end users.
Finally, in 2027, Apple is expected to release its 20th anniversary iPhone. The report indicates that this model will likely feature a curved-glass design, ending the flat-edged look introduced in 2020, and will reportedly be named the “iPhone 20.”
