Micron has announced the launch of the industry’s highest-density radiation-hardened SLC NAND flash memory. The newly released 256Gb SLC NAND is Micron’s first offering within its aerospace-grade portfolio of NAND, NOR, and DRAM memory solutions and is now commercially available. It is specifically designed for use in aerospace and other environments with extremely demanding conditions.
The product has undergone rigorous testing, including extreme temperature cycling, defect screening, and dynamic burn-in in accordance with NASA’s PEM-INST-001 standard. It has also been validated for radiation tolerance based on U.S. military standard MIL-STD-883 and JEDEC JESD57, ensuring its reliability in high-radiation environments. This breakthrough provides critical technological support for long-duration space missions.
Radiation-hardened memory is essential in aerospace applications, as high levels of radiation in space can severely affect electronic devices. Micron’s 256Gb SLC NAND employs specialized design and materials to deliver outstanding radiation resistance, maintaining data stability and reliability even in the harshest conditions.
