According to Commercial Times and Tom’s Hardware, NVIDIA and MediaTek’s plan to launch their N1X AI PC platform has reportedly been delayed, with the debut of the jointly developed next-generation processor pushed from the second half of 2025 to the first quarter of 2026.

As Commercial Times notes, the N1X is the first Windows on Arm PC processor co-developed by NVIDIA and MediaTek. According to sources cited in the report, the N1X is a modified version of the GB10 Grace Blackwell superchip used in their previously launched personal AI supercomputer, Project DIGITS (DGX Spark), and will be manufactured using TSMC’s N3B process.

Windows on Arm Development Delay

Regarding the delay in the N1X launch timeline, according to the report, there are three main reasons. First, the development of Microsoft’s new Windows on Arm operating system has been slow. The next-generation Windows on Arm platform was originally scheduled to launch alongside the N1X processor. However, Microsoft’s development has reportedly encountered delays, and the official release is now expected to take several more quarters.

Market Challenges for Windows on Arm PCs

Another reason for the purported delay, as the report notes, is the lower-than-expected market acceptance of Windows on Arm processors in the PC space. The report points out that despite heavy promotion of AI PCs, consumers remain cautious, while AMD and Intel’s x86-based PCs continue to dominate—adding pressure to the development of Windows on Arm PCs.

NVIDIA’s Chip Design Revisions

Lastly, the report also mentions that another purported reason for the N1X delay is NVIDIA’s ongoing chip design evaluation and revisions. At this stage, NVIDIA is reportedly assessing a new version of the N1X processor.

Sources cited by the report indicate that NVIDIA originally intended the N1X processor to be the centerpiece of its strategy to enter both the enterprise and consumer AI PC markets, positioning it to compete with rival offerings.

Meanwhile, some sources also claim that the N1 series will consist of multiple chips—N1X targeting the enterprise/commercial segment and N1C aimed at consumers. With the N1X launch delayed to Q1 2026, more details are expected to be revealed at the CES 2026, as noted by Commercial Times.
