[News] TCL Outlines Strategic Roadmap for Optical Communications

During its Investor Open Day on August 28, TCL Technology detailed its strategic layout in optical communications for the first time.

TCL’s management noted that the optical communications industry is on the verge of major development opportunities. The company expects to execute its roadmap following the sequence of “optical chips → optical components → optical modules.”

In the optical chip segment, TCL stated that it has already established a foundational capability. Through the acquisition of the Fuzhou Huazhao, TCL secured technical capabilities and talent resources in LED chip epitaxy and fabrication processes.

Building on this foundation, TCL CSOT registered and established Huazha Starlight in July. The entity will cover LED chips, packaging, and downstream supply chain extensions, with operations set to launch officially in the near future.

The company emphasized that it will not blindly pursue rapid vertical expansion across the value chain. Instead, TCL will adopt a prudent pace of “verification first, then adoption; small-batch trials first, then capacity expansion,” aiming to build long-term core competitiveness.

Addressing investor queries regarding equipment, IP, and talent readiness, TCL acknowledged that it remains in the early stages of technology exploration and commercial viability assessment.

The company does not rule out alternative approaches to rapidly complement and bolster its capabilities, noting that specific implementation plans will be clarified once the execution path becomes clear.
