[News] Infineon Announces Second 2026 Price Hike Effective July 1 Amid Rising Supply Chain Costs, Strong Demand

Infineon has announced another price increase. According to TechNews, the company informed customers and partners on the 26th that it will adjust prices for certain products starting July 1, citing rising costs across the global semiconductor supply chain.

This marks Infineon’s second round of price hikes, following an earlier adjustment in April 2026, as noted by another report from TechNews.

Infineon said the semiconductor industry continues to face mounting cost pressures, largely driven by geopolitical tensions, pushing up expenses across the value chain, including energy, raw materials, transportation, and services. At the same time, demand across its product portfolio is rising rapidly, exceeding expectations from just a few months ago. To maintain stable and reliable supply for customers, Infineon also said it is accelerating investments to expand production capacity.

As the report notes, Infineon previously highlighted that traditional transformers face rising cost and lead-time pressures due to heavy material use, particularly copper. The company said technologies such as Solid State Transformer (SST), which require fewer raw materials, may become increasingly relevant as AI and broader infrastructure demand intensify competition for critical materials.

AI Expansion Pushes Up Power Semiconductor Pricing

The AI boom has fueled a wave of price increases, and that cycle is now reaching the power semiconductor sector. Since 2026, global power chip suppliers have repeatedly raised prices. According to Commercial Times, beyond Infineon, Texas Instruments is set to raise prices starting July 1, covering products including PMICs and MOSFETs, marking its second price increase of 2026. Chinese suppliers are also joining the trend. The report notes that MacMic is planning a 10% increase in IGBT (Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistor) prices, while Jiangsu JieJie Microelectronics is preparing 10% to 20% hikes for MOSFET and IGBT products.

Institutional investors cited by Commercial Times said the latest price increases reflect a structural demand shift rather than short-term inventory replenishment. The report highlights that Texas Instruments posted roughly 90% YoY growth in first-quarter data center revenue, suggesting AI demand is expanding beyond GPUs into power management, server power systems, and high-voltage MOSFETs. According to the report, industry estimates further indicate that adoption of NVIDIA’s GB300 platform and HVDC architectures could drive additional demand for high-voltage MOSFETs, IGBTs, and power conversion components.
