[News] Chip Price Hike Wave Builds as NXP, TI Reportedly Prepare Their Second Increases This Year for June and July

Analog IC leaders Texas Instruments and NXP both issued upbeat guidance for the current quarter, while market-circulated reports suggest the two are also moving in parallel on pricing actions. According to Sina and eTime, citing company notices, TI is set to launch its second round of price hikes this year, while NXP is reportedly preparing an increase as soon as June.

eTime reports that a market-circulated Texas Instruments notice dated May 7 signals another round of price increases. The letter cited indicates TI will adjust pricing across multiple product lines, with increases varying by materials and technologies. New pricing will apply to all orders and shipments from July 1, 2026, with the company attributing the move to market conditions and rising supply chain costs, the report adds.

While the latest notice does not disclose the scale of adjustments, Sina notes this marks TI’s second price hike this year, following an increase in April, when prices on select analog and embedded products were raised from April 1. Distributors cited in the report said increases could range from 15% to 85%, covering key categories including digital isolators and power management ICs.

This price trend aligns with broader signals of recovering demand in industrial and automotive markets. Reuters, citing analysts after TI’s earnings call, reported that demand is recovering as customers rebuild orders after pandemic-era excess inventory. The report added that TI executives expect continued automotive growth, which rose in the mid-single digits during the quarter, supported by easing inventory pressures and tariff-related cost dynamics.

Notably, Sina also highlights that TI already carried out two major price hikes in 2025. The first came in June, mainly targeting low-margin and legacy products, with average increases above 10% and some reaching 40%–70%. A second round followed in August, with prices rising by 10%–30%, the report suggests.

NXP Set for Second Price Hike This Year

On the other hand, Sina, citing a May 1 notice, reports that NXP, the world’s second-largest automotive semiconductor supplier, will implement price adjustments starting June 1, 2026, due to persistent inflationary cost pressures including raw materials, energy, labor, logistics, and supplier inputs.

This marks NXP’s second price increase this year, following adjustments to selected products in April—mirroring a similar pattern at TI, the report notes.

Since the start of the year, multiple chipmakers have reportedly rolled out price hikes. As previously reported by EE Times China, STMicroelectronics notified customers in late March that prices across multiple product lines would rise from April 26, 2026.

Amid surging CPU demand, Intel also reportedly raised PC CPU prices in March and further adjusted server CPU pricing on April 1, with the market expecting another 8%–10% increase in the second half of the year, according to Commercial Times.
