While Intel’s 18A has officially entered mass production in Arizona in late 2025, all eyes remain on Team Blue’s next-generation 14A node and its flagship production hub in Ohio. Now, fresh signals suggest the long-delayed project may be gaining momentum.

According to a recent hiring notice from Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology Group, spotted by X tipster Due Calli, the construction contractor behind Intel’s Ohio fab is actively recruiting project managers, construction equipment superintendent, and electricians for the New Albany site—a strong indication that 14A development is moving forward.

Notably, as Tom’s Hardware earlier reported, CEO Lip-Bu Tan, during CES 2026, told that the company is “going big time into 14A,” expecting strong momentum in both yields and its IP portfolio as the node progresses, better positioning Intel to meet customer needs. His remarks do echo Intel’s ongoing efforts to advance the Ohio One project.

From Delays to Execution: Ohio One Moves Forward

According to NBC4i.com, Intel’s $28 billion Ohio One project, announced in 2022 and initially slated for a 2025 opening, has faced two delays. However, the report notes that three years in, construction in Licking County is steadily advancing toward a 2031 launch, according to Intel’s 2025 review.

The report suggests that workers have logged over 9.4 million hours on the Ohio One project—equivalent to more than 1,000 years of labor over the past three years. The company has poured enough concrete to fill more than 13 stadiums and installed thousands of feet of underground piping and conduits, and as of February 2025, the company employed 156 Ohio residents full-time, the report adds.

In August 2025, Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan met with President Trump at the White House, after which the U.S. administration agreed to release the remaining CHIPS funds in exchange for roughly a 10% stake in the company.

Against this backdrop, NBC4i.com reports that around the same time, at least six leaders tied to Intel’s Ohio One project departed. Some of those positions have since been refilled, indicating that the project remains on track, as per the report.

Intel’s progress on both its 14A process and the Ohio project is expected to come into sharper focus when the company releases its state and FY2025 reports on January 22. Currently, the 14A process is slated for production readiness in 2027, with early process design kits (PDKs) for external customers expected in early 2026.
