South Korean battery equipment manufacturer PNT has announced its revenue target for 2026, aiming to reach KRW 1.5 trillion, a 50% increase from KRW 1 trillion in 2024.
PNT CEO JoonSup Kim stated that this goal will be driven by the company’s expansion into new business areas, such as semiconductor glass substrates, copper foil, and cathode materials for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and energy storage systems (ESS).
According to Kim, the company’s core technologies in roll-to-roll processing and electroplating are applicable not only to batteries but also to semiconductor glass substrates.
In the field of chip glass substrate, PNT provides electroplating technology for via holes in flip-chip ball grid array (FC-BGA) substrates. Kim noted that these holes require copper and nickel plating, and the company has equipment capable of processing and plating these metals. He added that PNT’s equipment can triple the plating speed for these metals, while also ensuring uniformity and enabling low-cost plating of micro-patterns.
PNT also established a copper foil subsidiary in China in 2022, which produces copper foil for electric vehicles, smartphones, and printed circuit boards (PCBs). The company plans to increase its annual copper foil production capacity in China from 30,000 tons to 50,000 tons by 2026. Kim explained that due to high electricity costs, operating copper foil businesses in Korea is difficult, whereas China is the largest market for copper foil demand. PNT has already increased its copper foil capacity by 30%, and expects this business to generate KRW 500 billion in annual revenue.
