According to Israeli media outlet CTech, NVIDIA is seeking to acquire land in northern Israel for the development of a large-scale campus. The total investment—including land and construction—is expected to reach several billion dollars. If the plan moves forward, the site could become Israel’s largest high-tech campus within five to six years, the report highlights.
As noted in the report, NVIDIA has issued a request for information to identify a site spanning 70,000 to 120,000 square meters, with continuous building rights covering 80,000 to 180,000 square meters.
Sources indicate that the planned new campus will not replace NVIDIA’s existing sites but will instead expand its presence, according to the report. NVIDIA currently operates in Israel through two main centers: its headquarters in Yokneam and offices in the Rubinstein Twin Towers in Tel Aviv, as the report adds.
Notably, NVIDIA’s R&D operations in Israel are already its largest outside the U.S., as The Times of Israel points out.
NVIDIA Hiring Surges Amid Broader Tech Layoffs in Israel
As CTech points out, NVIDIA has emerged in recent years as the fastest-growing multinational tech employer in Israel. In just the past two years, the company has added 1,000 employees annually, bringing its local workforce to 5,000. It still has roughly 100 open roles, and by the time the new campus is completed, it is expected to overtake Intel as Israel’s largest private-sector employer, according to the report.
CTech indicates that a significant portion of these new hires reportedly came from Intel, which has faced internal challenges and reduced its Israeli workforce by over 10% in the past year—bringing its headcount down to approximately 9,000.
In addition to Intel, CTech notes that several other tech giants have also downsized their local workforces. Microsoft has conducted multiple rounds of layoffs at its Israeli operations, which employ around 3,000 people, while both Google and Amazon have also reduced staff over the past year.
NVIDIA Invests in Data Center and Supercomputing in Israel
NVIDIA has been enhancing its presence in Israel. As reported by Israeli news outlet ynet, in January, the company announced a $500 million investment to build a new data center in Israel. Spanning approximately 10,000 square meters, the facility will be the largest of its kind in the country and will be used exclusively for the company’s internal operations.
Ynet also notes that NVIDIA currently operates a supercomputer built in Israel—Israel-1—which ranked 34th on the list of the world’s top 500 supercomputers last year.
