[Insights] Memory Spot Price Update: 16Gb DDR4 Consumer DRAM Rises as PC DRAM Loses Momentum

According to TrendForce’s latest memory spot price trend report, regarding DRAM, spot prices of 16Gb DDR4 consumer DRAM chips continue to climb, whereas PC DRAM chips like 8Gb DDR4 have seen a minor pullback. As for NAND flash, gradual release of capacity resources by suppliers, together with the weakening effect of China’s national subsidy, led to sluggishness in the spot market. Details are as follows:

DRAM Spot Price:

Although spot prices have started to drop slightly over the past week, this primarily reflects the previous rapid and large increases in DDR4 chip prices. The overall supply remains extremely tight. Notably, spot prices of 16Gb DDR4 consumer DRAM chips continue to climb, whereas spot prices PC DRAM chips like 8Gb DDR4 have seen a minor pullback. TrendForce expects spot prices to generally hold steady in the short term. The average spot price of mainstream chips (i.e., DDR4 1Gx8 3200MT/s) has decreased by 1.55% from US$5.153 last week to US$5.073 this week.

NAND Flash Spot Price:

The spot market is currently languish in sales. Spot prices usually reflect the market trend ahead of contract prices, and would thus increase in prices earlier, which explains why spot prices are generally above contract prices. Gradual release of capacity resources by suppliers, together with the weakening effect of China’s national subsidy, led to sluggishness in the spot market, followed by an apparent depletion in overall transactions. Spot prices of 512Gb TLC wafers dropped by 0.11% this week, arriving at US$2.680.
