Amid CEO Lip-Bu Tan’s push to shake things up and streamline Intel’s leadership, Intel is reportedly parting with the sales head of data center, AI, and telecom, and its public sector sales lead, according to CRN.
Uday Yadati’s exit as Intel’s VP of Data Center, AI, Networking, and Telecom reportedly came unexpectedly. It comes just shortly after Justin Hotard, head of Datacenter and AI, left in February to become Nokia’s new CEO, as per The Register.
Meanwhile, Intel’s public sector sales chief, Cameron Chehreh, announced her departure on LinkedIn Wednesday, following SMG Chief Commercial Officer Christoph Schell’s late-April resignation, according to CRN.
Greg Ernst, a 19-year Intel veteran, now steps in as interim SMG chief and CCO, as per CRN. Meanwhile, Caitlin Anderson, Intel’s Corporate Vice President of Product Group Category Sales and Marketing, will temporarily lead Intel’s data center, AI, and networking group, CRN notes.
Tan’s Streamlining Efforts Brewing?
In April, one month after Lip-Bu Tan becomes Team Blue’s CEO, he has made his first major leadership move. According to a memo reviewed by Reuters, Intel’s data center and AI chip groups, as well as its personal-computer chip group, will now report directly to Tan since then.
The moves align with Tan’s plan to streamline Intel’s bloated middle management, which he sees as a major factor slowing decision-making, as the report notes.
Moreover, in late April, Bloomberg reported that Intel plans to slash over 20% of its workforce to cut bureaucracy and sharpen its engineering focus. This follows last year’s layoff of 15,000 employees, with Intel’s headcount dropping from 124,800 in 2023 to 108,900 by the end of 2024, the report says.
