Global market research firm TrendForce held its IT Industry Forecast for 2017 on November 10 in Room 101 of National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) International Convention Center. Below is a summary of presentations made by our analysts at the event’s morning session:
Precision medicine is one of the hottest field within the biotechnology sector and has attracted considerable investments by national governments worldwide. The basis of development in the field of precision medicine is gene sequencing. “Owing to major initiatives in many countries, the global market scale of next-generation sequencing (NGS) instruments and reagents will expand rapidly at a CAGR of 13.5% in the 2015~2020 period, from US1.8 billion to US$3.35 billion,” said Sean Liu, biotechnology analyst for TrendForce.
Sony’s PlayStation VR (PS VR) immediately achieved sold-out status following its release on October 13. The event signaled the start of a new round of competition in the global VR device market in the fourth quarter of 2016. “Demand for VR devices will remain quite strong in the next two years,” said Jason Tsai, wearable device analyst for TrendForce. “Conversely, product shipments will not keep pace with the demand. Shortages of key components, particularly OLED panels, will prevent device makers from putting more products on the shelves.”
The scale of the global hepatitis B drug market was around US$2.15 billion in 2015 and is forecast to grow slowly at a CAGR of just 0.4% to US$2.2 billion in 2023, according to the latest biotechnology report from the global market research firm TrendForce.
