Apple’s smart phone iPhone5 applies the in-cell touch panel instead of the traditional G/G structure, reducing phone thickness by 18% and weight by 20%.
According to the latest shipment report provided by WisView, the display research division of TrendForce, the large-sized panel shipments amounted to 69.07 million units in Aug. 2012, increasing 9.8% MoM and 15% YoY.
2H2012 will be a prolific year in terms of the amount of tablet PC products released. With the imminent launch of Windows 8, along with growing patent tensions between Apple and Android, however, the battle amongst the different platforms are also expected to intensify.
Currently consumer can get a 7” tablet at an advantageous price of $199 thanks to the first generation of Kindle Fire released by Amazon last year. In the near future consumer can even buy a 7” tablet of upgraded version at only $159, and this is thanks to Amazon again.
