According to TheElec, South Korean fab equipment makers saw first-quarter revenue contributions from the Chinese market across the board. The report notes that, among the earnings of 47 South Korean equipment firms, two of the top performers—Park Systems and Jusung Engineering—recorded particularly strong profits in China.

Park Systems

As highlighted in the report, Park Systems recorded the highest year-on-year growth in operating profit, soaring 2,540% to 13.2 billion won. Revenue also surged 98.1% during the same period, reaching 50.9 billion won. Of this, nearly half—23.2 billion won—was generated from the Greater China region, while 11.2 billion won came from South Korea.

The report notes that demand for the company’s atomic force microscope (AFM) has surged in China, driven by a ramp-up in local chip production. AFM plays a critical role in hybrid bonding—a cutting-edge packaging technique essential for manufacturing advanced semiconductors. Samsung and SK hynix are preparing to incorporate this technology into their chipmaking processes, as the report notes.

Jusung Engineering

Jusung Engineering posted the second-highest year-on-year growth in operating profit, surging 384.29% to 33.9 billion won. Revenue also doubled during the period, reaching 120.8 billion won, according to the report.

The fab equipment maker has experienced steady year-over-year growth in revenue from China. According to the report, by 2024, the share of revenue from the Chinese market had risen further from 68% in 2023, reaching 85% of the company’s total.

As noted by the Korea Herald, Jusung Engineering became the first South Korean firm to develop front-end semiconductor equipment in 1995. One of its key innovations is Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) technology, which it provides to major clients including Samsung Electronics and SK hynix.

Meanwhile, Hanmi Semiconductor reported a 142.51% increase in revenue to 69.6 billion won. It supplies thermal compression bonders to SK hynix and Micron, as the report indicates.
