Rising AI Infrastructure Demand Highlights Industry Shift Toward Cost-Effective Solutions as DeepSeek Gains Traction, Says TrendForce

30 January 2025

TrendForce’s latest investigations have revealed that the recent release of DeepSeek-V3 and DeepSeek-R1 underscores an industry-wide shift toward more cost-effective AI infrastructure. This development is expected to prompt end users to conduct more rigorous evaluations of AI infrastructure investments, focusing on adopting more efficient software computing models to reduce reliance on hardware such as GPUs. CSPs are also likely to expand the adoption of in-house ASIC infrastructure to lower deployment costs. Consequently, actual demand for GPU-based AI chips and semiconductors could see notable changes from 2025 onward.

NAND Flash Manufacturers to Resume Production Cuts in 2025 to Ease Supply-Demand Imbalance and Stabilize Prices, Says TrendForce

22 January 2025

TrendForce’s latest research report highlights that the NAND Flash industry will continue to face dual pressure from weak demand and oversupply in 2025. In response, manufacturers including Micron, Kioxia/SanDisk, Samsung, and SK hynix/Solidigm have similar plans to cut production—a move that could accelerate industry consolidation in the long term.

Initial Assessment Shows Minimal Impact on Taiwan’s Tainan Wafer Fabs from Jan 21st Earthquake, but Tightness in the TV Panel Supply May Worsen in 1Q25, Says TrendForce

21 January 2025

A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck southern Taiwan, with its epicenter in Chiayi, at 12:17 AM on January 21, 2025. TrendForce’s preliminary assessment found that nearby wafer fabs had not suffered significant damage.

AI Infrastructure to Dominate MLCC Demand in 2025 amid Persistent Oversupply Challenges, Says TrendForce

15 January 2025

TrendForce’s latest investigations have revealed the U.S. economy outperformed market expectations in December 2024, with non-farm payrolls and the Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) delivering strong results. Consequently, the Federal Reserve may significantly scale back the frequency of rate cuts in 2025, prolonging a high-interest-rate environment. This scenario could dampen consumer spending and undermine corporate confidence in investment and expansion. TrendForce estimates that MLCC shipments will reach 1,146.7 billion units in 1Q25, marking a 3% QoQ decline.

European and Japanese IDMs Strengthen Collaboration with Chinese Foundries to Capture “China for China” Opportunities, Says TrendForce

8 January 2025

TrendForce’s latest investigations reveal that geopolitical dynamics are accelerating the formation of the “China for China” supply chain, driven by China’s vast domestic market. This trend is particularly evident in the automotive sector.
