For this second quarter, the total server DRAM revenue of the global top three DRAM makers – Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron – jumped by 30.1% compared with the prior quarter, as ASPs of server DRAM products remained high on continuing undersupply, says DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce. Despite product mix adjustments, suppliers had difficulty meeting the various growing demands in the DRAM market.
Global shipments of LCD TV sets totaled 47.37 million units for the second quarter of 2017, according to WitsView, a division of TrendForce. While this shipment figure represents an increase of 7.6% from the prior quarter, it also amounts to a year-on-year decrease of 5.2%. The Chinese TV market remained sluggish, while sales in North America were affected by channel distributors’ price hikes.
Prices of LCD TV panels of all sizes have started to soften from June and are now on a noticeable downward trend in August, according to the latest report from WitsView, a division of TrendForce. Size segments that are seeing significant price decline include the 65- and the 55-inch as well as the mid-size panels ranging from the 40- to the 43-inch.
DRAM prices began to rise in the second half of 2016 and have maintained a strong upward momentum through the first half of 2017, according to data from DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce. The average contract price of PC DRAM modules rose by nearly 40% sequentially in the first quarter to US$24 and then by more than 10% sequentially in the second quarter to US$27. Furthermore, the average contract price of PC DRAM modules increased by about 4.6% between this June and July. DRAMeXchange’s price forecast for this year’s second half indicates and steady and incremental gains as the general trend in the DRAM market.
LEDinside, a division of TrendForce, reports that the global average sales prices (ASP) of LED light bulbs fell in July compared with the prior month. The global ASP of 40-watt equivalent products dropped by 0.9% to US$6.5, while the global ASP of 60-watt equivalent products dropped by 2.8% to US$7.8.
