[Insights] Memory Spot Price Update: DDR5 Supply Tight, DDR4 Trading Weak Despite 0.84% Gain in Mainstream Prices
According to TrendForce’s latest memory spot price trend report, the DRAM market showed mixed signals, with DDR5 supply remaining tight despite buyers offering higher prices, while cautious inventory management kept DDR4 trading subdued. In NAND flash, weak demand from module houses and elevated inventories kept spot trading subdued, while sellers remained reluctant to cut prices. The average spot price of 512Gb TLC wafers slipped 1.28% this week to US$18.592. Details are as follows:
DRAM Spot Price:
The DRAM spot market displayed a divergent pattern this week. For DDR5, supply remains tight and suppliers are clearly reluctant to sell. Consequently, even though some buyers are willing to raise target prices, they still cannot secure allocation. Meanwhile, inquiries remains intermittent, failing to spark price-chasing momentum. Regarding branded DDR4 chips, downstream module houses are strictly controlling capital and inventory, limiting actual order releases and keeping trading sentiment subdued. The average spot price of mainstream chips (i.e., DDR4 1Gx8 3200MT/s) has risen by 0.84% to US$46.357 this week (October 20).
NAND Flash Spot Price:
Due to weak demand from the largest buyer, module houses, combined with persistently high inventory levels, trading volume of the spot market has remained sluggish. Sellers believe that price cuts may not stimulate demand effectively, thus resulting in limited willingness to lower prices. Consequently, spot prices have stayed in a narrow trading range with no significant fluctuations. Spot prices of 512Gb TLC wafers dropped by 1.28% this week (October 19), with average quotations arriving at US$18.592.
