Taiwan photovoltaic (PV) manufacturers have received rush orders since the end of August, leading to higher utilization rates and boosting optimism among Taiwan PV producers about demand in September. Yet Chinese demand remains weak as Chinese PV manufacturers have yet to reap the benefits of supportive Chinese government policies, such as subsidies for manufacturers.
Global demand for LCD TV panels this year is beating analysts’ forecasts according to WitsView, a subsidiary of the Taiwan-based market intelligence firm TrendForce.
In the third quarter, when LED market activity typically slows, LED backlighting prices declined an average of 3-8% as demand fell. Meanwhile, LED demand for lighting applications remained flat, but price competition in the overall LED market, remained fierce, as prices fell 6-12%, according to LEDinside, a subsidiary of the Taiwan-based market intelligence firm TrendForce.
