Display Panel Prices Still in a Slump in October Despite Positive Signs from Industry, TrendForce Reports

According to the latest price report by WitsView, a division of TrendForce, TV panel shipments have been steady to the third quarter of this year. In the monitor panel market, rush orders from vendors for the year-end sales have returned.

The latest large-size panel shipment report by WitsView, a division of TrendForce, reports that TV panel shipments totaled 24.47 million units in September, representing a monthly increase of 9.9% and a year-on-year increase of 13.8%. Iris Hu, WitsView assistant research manager, stated that TV panel market experienced a steady rise in stock-up demand during the first half of 2015.

Taiwan-based chip maker and semiconductor foundry Powerchip broke ground for a 12-inch fab today (October 20) in Hefei, capital city of Anhui Province in China. This fab is a RMB 13.53 billion joint venture between Powerchip and Hefei City Government and will be initially producing large-size LCD driver ICs on the 0.15um process.
