TrendForce Says Global Market Value for Voice Recognition Will Register CAGR of 43.64% During 2016~2021 as Applications for AI Expands

Development of AI systems and their applications will continue to revolve around voice and image recognition technologies in 2017. According to market research firm TrendForce, the global market value of voice recognition solutions is projected to grow from US$2.61 billion in 2016 to US$15.98 billion in 2021, with the CAGR in the forecast period at 43.64%. The main source of growth momentum will come from the widespread adoption of voice-based virtual assistants in various devices.

TrendForce Reports PERC Cell’s Global Production Capacity to Reach 25GW in 2017, Resulting in Doubling of Total Annual Output

Volume production of PV cells based on PERC (passivated emitter rear cell) technology is expected to reach a new peak in 2017 on account of advances in equipment and manufacturing process. The latest PERC technology report from EnergyTrend, a division of TrendForce, states that PERC cell suppliers that began to expand their production capacity last year will be completing their works in the first half of 2017. Global PV cell production capacity on the whole will increase this year, while PERC cell capacity is forecast to reach 25GW by the year’s end. The total annual output of PERC cells is also expected to double compared with 2016.

China’s Third-Party Payment Industry to Take a Huge Hit as Its RMB 500 Billion Client Reserve Funds Will Be Placed Under Centralized Management This April, Says TrendForce

Starting in April 2017, third-party payment providers in China will have to put their client reserve funds under centralized management of People’s Bank of China (PBoC). This policy is expected to have a heavy impact on major domestic payment providers including Alibaba and Tencent as it prevents them from using the reserve funds to generate interest income or grow their businesses. According to market research firm TrendForce, the total amount of reserve funds that will transfer from third-party payment providers to the control of the Chinese government is estimated around RMB 500 billion.

Tight Supply Causes Contract Prices of Server DRAM Modules to Rise Over 25% Sequentially in First Quarter of 2017, Says TrendForce

At the start of the first quarter of 2017, contract prices of server DRAM modules have already increased by over 25% on average from the same point in the prior quarter, according to the latest report by DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce. The sequential contract price increases for some high-density server DRAM modules are even at nearly 30%. The average worldwide contract price of DDR4 R-DIMM 32GB modules has broken through the threshold of US$200, while the 16GB counterparts have also climbed to about US$100.
