According to the latest research from DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce, server and smartphone shipment demand continues to grow in the immense Chinese memory market. The latest forecast indicates that China will consume US$12 billion worth of DRAM and US$6.67 billion worth of NAND Flash in 2015.

In the latest development in China’s aggressive entry into the DRAM industry, Charles Kao, chairman of Inotera Memories and president of Nanya Technology, is rumored to join the Chinese technology conglomerate Tsinghua Unigroup after leaving his current positions. Nanya Technology has confirmed that Kao will be stepping down soon and stated that the company respects his personal plans for the future.

TrendForce Reports DRAM Contract Price Down to US$18.5 in September

The latest price report by DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce, shows that the average contract price of DDR3 4GB fell 3% from US$19 in August to US$18.5 in September. According to DRAMeXchange Assistant Vice President Avril Wu, first-tier DRAM suppliers attempted to hold the price around US$20~21 in August, when the inventory level in the spot market was low.
