[Insights] Memory Spot Price Update: DRAM Spot Prices Hold Cautious Tone; DDR4 2Gx8 Drops 3.6%
According to TrendForce’s latest memory spot price trend report, DRAM spot buying remained cautious this week, with prices diverging by product. DDR4 2Gx8 branded chip prices continued to correct without attracting clear buying interest, while DDR5 price trends varied by specification. In NAND, weak consumer demand and capacity releases from Chinese suppliers kept supply relatively sufficient and prices largely range-bound. With upward price momentum driven entirely by enterprise SSD demand, buyers remained reluctant to chase prices, keeping transactions light. Spot prices of 512Gb TLC wafers fell 1.00% this week to US$19.883.
DRAM Spot Price:
In the DRAM spot market, procurement momentum has remained cautious and watchful this week, with price trends diverging across segments. Spot prices of DDR4 2Gx8 branded chips have corrected downward noticeably, yet no clear buying interest has emerged in the market. Price trends of DDR5 products have varied by specification. Prices of eTT chips have been relatively strong as transaction prices continue to climb. However, buyers’ willingness to chase higher prices has been dampened by sharp quote hikes and suppliers holding back inventory, limiting the pace of actual market follow-through. The average spot price of mainstream chips (i.e., DDR4 1Gx8 3200MT/s) has increased by 0.55% from US$45.79 last week (September 16) to US$46.04 this week (September 22).
NAND Flash Spot Price:
Restricted by persistently weak consumer end-demand and capacity releases from Chinese suppliers, overall NAND supply in the spot market remains relatively sufficient, with prices mostly consolidating within a narrow range. Although some module houses and sellers have loosened their quotes and increased price flexibility to sustain shipment momentum, buyers remain conservative on the consumer market outlook. Aware that the current upward price momentum stems entirely from strong enterprise SSD demand, buyers have largely adopted a wait-and-see approach and are reluctant to follow up on prices aggressively. As a result, actual purchasing momentum remains insufficient, and overall transaction volumes stay light. Spot prices of 512Gb TLC wafers dropped by 1.00% this week (September 21), arriving at US$19.883.
