According to the latest survey by WitsView, a research division of TrendForce, the contract manufacturing volume from Taiwan’s TV SIs reached 10.84 million units, up by 19.6% QoQ. This marked the first time where the 10 million mark was surpassed and also a new high in terms of the quarterly growth in 2010.
Following the weaker-than-expected seasonality in the traditional strong third quarter, the large-sized panel shipments regained their upward momentum in 4Q10, as panel prices bottomed up during the quarter. In contrast to 3Q10, shipments were up by 7.9% QoQ to 168 million units.

It is estimated that the worldwide leading mobile and PC brand vendors will roll out 7-inch to 12-inch tablet devices one after another, which will certainly bring the tablet fever to another level.
