[News] Micron’s Expansion Push Lifts Korean Chip Suppliers, with Hanmi’s HBM TC Bonder Reportedly in Focus

Riding a memory-price rally and strong earnings, Micron is doubling down on expansion. MK Economy reports that the U.S. memory giant expects $25 billion in CapEx in 1HFY27—nearly matching its $27.37 billion full-year FY26 spending. Yet even as Micron closes in on Samsung and SK hynix, its expansion could spell a windfall for Korean chip suppliers including Hanmi Semiconductor, Justem and CMTX, according to Financial News.

Financial News suggests Hanmi Semiconductor is emerging as a key beneficiary of Micron’s growing presence in the memory market, with the company reportedly supplying thermal compression (TC) bonders and related equipment to the U.S. memory giant. As reported, TC bonders precisely stack and bond DRAM dies by applying controlled heat and pressure, making them essential equipment in the production of HBM.

Notably, the report points to strong ties between the two parties, as Hanmi Semiconductor was officially invited to and attended Micron’s semiconductor facility groundbreaking and completion ceremonies in Singapore and India in January and March, respectively. By year-end, the company plans to establish a U.S. subsidiary, Hanmi USA, in San Jose, California, strengthening local support for customers including Micron, the report adds.

That relationship could gain further momentum as Micron accelerates its HBM ramp. At its September 30 earnings call, Micron said HBM revenue grew faster than companywide revenue in fiscal Q4 2026 as shipments expanded across a broader customer base. Looking ahead, the company has already locked in agreements for the vast majority of its 2027 HBM bit supply at significantly higher prices than in 2026.

Justem, CMTX Poised to Benefit

On the other hand, Justem is also being cited as a potential beneficiary of Micron’s expansion. According to Financial News, as semiconductor circuit dimensions shrink to the nanometer scale, moisture has emerged as a factor that can undermine chip yields. Justem has drawn attention for becoming the first in the industry to commercialize a solution that controls humidity during semiconductor manufacturing processes, the report says.

The report, citing SK Securities, notes that Micron currently accounts for about 50% of Justem’s revenue by customer, making it the company’s largest client, followed by SK hynix at 30% and Samsung Electronics at 20%.

CMTX, meanwhile, is increasing shipments of silicon components used in semiconductor etching processes to Micron, Financial News reports.
