TrendForce:LEDinside’s Major Annual Event “LEDforum 2012” Has Ended Successfully

13 June 2012 LED

According to LEDinside, a research division of TrendForce, Europe’s worsening debt crisis has curbed demand from the European market and threatened Asian LED makers, who rely heavily on export sales. Therefore, some manufacturers’ sales momentums have shown a slight decrease in 2Q12.

However, the demand in the LED lighting sector has remained comparatively steady, as it can be seen from the climbing numbers  of bidding for government –oriented projects and power plants. Numbers of architectural and outdoor lighting projects have been rising constantly in Australia and the United States. For instance, demand is being spurred by the increasing LED street light projects in the eastern United States and the emerging project plans in Australia.

Chinese government, on the other hand, contributes greatly to the LED lighting market demand by implementing various subsidy policies, such as subsidies on energy saving home appliances that speeds up the LED backlight TV market demand, subsidies on energy saving luminaries and outdoor lighting installation projects.

However, many lighting makers are now competing heavily to participate in Chinese bidding market as Chinese export sales are plunging, causing a sharp decline in profits that could originally be gained from the rewarding project business. The future development of LED industry will be a competition in which the fittest survive. Only companies embrace leading technologies and patents will stand out among industry competitors.

In 2012, the LED industry is expected to  take a turn for the better  when the worldwide demand is led by policies implemented for beneficial purposes, and top-tier TV brands introduce LED TV marketing strategies. The LEDforum 2012 conducted by LEDinside and Guangzhou international lighting exhibition was officially launched on June 11, 2012

Major corporations such as Osram, Philips Lumileds, Seoul Semiconductor, Lextar, Everlght, Aixtron, Henkel attended the event as guest speakers.

As for the concurrent sessions in the afternoon, “The Big Future of LED Lighting Industry in 2012” and “The Key to Technological Strength in 2012: Development of LED Manufacturing Process and Equipment” provide a thorough analysis on the LED market.
