[News] Apple Reportedly Cuts More Jobs Following 200+ August Layoffs, With Fitness+ Affected

Apple is once again trimming its workforce as it adjusts staffing across parts of the company. According to India Today, citing Bloomberg, Apple has reportedly conducted a second round of layoffs in less than two months, cutting a handful of jobs from its Fitness+ team. The move follows layoffs affecting as many as 200 employees last month.

The latest cuts reportedly affected employees working on the audio side of Fitness+, including features such as Time to Walk and Time to Run, which users can access on an Apple Watch without watching a video. The report notes that new audio releases are expected to become less frequent, though the features are not being discontinued for now.

The reported move could also point to broader changes ahead for Fitness+. The report notes that the layoffs may be an early sign of more substantial cost-cutting and structural changes in the months and years ahead. There is also speculation that Apple could eventually integrate parts of Fitness+ more closely with its Health app.

The previous round of layoffs in August affected more than 200 positions across Apple. According to TechCrunch, citing Bloomberg, around 100 of those cuts came from the Vision Pro team, while the remaining reductions affected teams working on Siri and Intelligent Systems Experience, which focuses on integrating AI into devices.

Tech Layoffs Extend Beyond Apple

Apple is not alone in making workforce reductions. As noted by GeekWire, Oracle is cutting 359 jobs in Washington state in its second round of layoffs there in 2026, according to a filing with the state Employment Security Department. The reductions at Oracle affect both remote and Seattle-based employees and span technical and management roles. The move comes just six months after Oracle eliminated 491 jobs in Washington in March, as the report highlights.
