The latest price report by LEDinside , a division of TrendForce , shows that mainstream high power LED package product prices continue to drop slowly while those of mid-power LED package products stabilized LEDinside Analyst Terri Wang points out that despite a recovering market demand for backlight LEDs after the Lunar New Year, market demand for lighting and automotive LED packages still saw no improvements Lighting LED package prices also dropped slightly in March High power ceramic-substrate product prices dropped by 1%~3%, while mainstream suppliers lowered COB product prices by 2%~4% Suppliers are actively rolling out new products under this state of recession to consolidate market shares: CREE has announced its next-generation horticultural LED series, XP-E2, which include red 660nm lights and infrared 730nm lights, pulling luminous efficiency up by 21% and 57% respectively; Lumileds has released its new 9V 2835E LED specifically optimized for retrofit lamps such as A19, PAR and B11, with a typical drive current of 100mA, improving efficiency by 5% when compared to conventional 60mA LED products under the same drive current ; Nichia has expanded its Optisolis technology into a COB series, which has its emphasis on high brightness and a narrow emission area, and suits the needs of lighting products requiring strong light intensity, such as spot lights, downlights and track lights

According to the latest research by  LEDinside , a divison of  TrendForce , China's mainstream high- and mid-power LED package prices continue to drop in January 2019, although they have rather stabilized in February LEDinside Analyst Terri Wang explains that due to the continual stagnation of economy worldwide in January, suppliers continue to clear their inventories, with LED lighting packages generally seeing falls to various extents Among these products, 2835-LED products have dropped relatively harder in prices ( up to 7~9%), with mainstream vendors lowering prices without exception Furthermore, high 1-3W power ceramic -substrate products and 7070-LED products have also experienced a rather significant decrease in prices Upon entering the February Lunar New Year holidays , traditionally a low season in sales, many companies have halted production temporarily, stabilizing most LED lighting package prices As for automotive LED packages, 4-chip and 5-chip LEDs still remain mainstream in headlight applications The automotive LED market has entered into a valley period at the end of 2018, which persisted into January and February this year All mainline automotive LED manufacturers' revenues were negatively affected, with product prices lowered slightly by about 1-2%

Mainstream high- and mid-power LED package products in the Chinese market witnessed price declines in December, according to the latest report from LEDinside, a division of TrendForce “LED manufacturers have continued to clear their inventories in December due to the weak demand at the year end, which lowered the prices in the general lighting market”, says LEDinside analyst Terri Wang The average prices of high- and mid-power LED package products slid 2%~4% and 1%~8% respectively Faced with the sluggish demand, LED packaging companies continue to explore niche markets, with horticultural lighting, human centric lighting, and connected lighting being the focus For instance, Lumileds has released the LUXEON SunPlus 2835 LED series for horticultural lighting, with eight color options and customized spectrum available Samsung has also launched a new product series for horticultural lighting, including full-spectrum packages and modules Blue light, red light, and infrared LEDs are available, and the products have been mass produced For the future, Samsung plans to integrate smart sensing or connected solutions to horticultural lighting LED products Nichia introduces COB, a new human centric lighting product series, which can be used for commercial lighting like retailing stores The color temperature can change according to the features of products displayed, or according to users’ biological clock when used for home lighting

Mainstream 3030 LED package products in the Chinese market have seen noticeable price declines in this November, according to the latest report from LEDinside, a division of TrendForce “LED manufacturers have started to clear their inventories since 4Q18, which lowered the prices considerably”, says LEDinside analyst Terri Wang The average prices of high- and mid-power 3030 LED slid 34% and 29% respectively, while prices of mid-power LEDs and high-power ceramic-substrate LEDs remained stable In the automotive LED market, where the technical barriers and profit margins are relatively high, the price drop was more moderated than in lighting LED market Generally speaking, automotive LED products used by joint-venture carmakers see price declines of 1%-2% quarter by quarter, while those used by Chinese carmakers witness steeper price fall, depending on the demand condition

The prices of high-power LED package products in the Chinese market continued to drop in October 2018, according to LEDinside, a division of TrendForce “The prices of high-power LED package products dropped in October because the costs of LED chips have been lowered in 3Q18, but the magnitudes of price decline varied”, says Terri Wang, LEDinside analyst For example, prices of high power ceramic-substrate LEDs and 5-10W 7070 LEDs declined by 2-5% and 4% respectively On the other hand, prices of mid-power LED package products remained stable As the general lighting market has been growing mature with less growth momentum, LED manufacturers have put more focus on enhancing the added value of products and improving reliability, color performance, luminous efficacy, and so on For instance, Lumileds has released its new LUXEON V2 LED, which delivers 150lm/W at 1A It also enables DLC Premium at the system level, while 99% of the light is forward directed
