LEDinside: A Feb.YoY Revenue Growth of 35.8% for Taiwan LED Companies

Everlight, a major LED-packaging manufacturer, whose operating revenue had respectively reached TWD 863 million (USD 28 million). With a YoY (Year-on-Year Percentage) growth rate of 43.7%, Everlight has remaining its top throne of the industry. In terms of the LED crystal grain manufacturers including Epistar, Huga, Forepi, and Tekcore, whose YoY growth all hit over 80%, due to its lower operating revenue of Feb,2007.

March 17, 2008-According to the latest available statistics from LEDinside, the entire operating revenue of the listed LED companies in Taiwan this February had dropped 14.6% to NTD 4,881 million (USD 159.1 million) comparing to the previous month’s of which was NTD 5,714 million (USD 186.3 million). The LED-packaging manufacturers had also tumbled 18.3% to NTD 2,755 million (USD 89.8 million) and the LED crystal grain manufacturers were down 9.2% to NTD 2,127 million (USD 69.3 million)as well.

However, to coincide with the temporary suspension of the downstream firms during the Chinese New Year in February, the entire operating revenue was down 14.6% while comparing to it was a month ago. Yet, if compared to the same period of last year, its YoY had surpassed 35.8% which showed the demands of LED products were soared comparing to they were a year ago.

Mentioning about the well-performed applications in February, most of them were still the mid-small size backlight panels of which the majority belonged to the mobile backlight module. Other products such as digital camera, mid size digital photo frame, and portable DVD player were also with the strongest secular growth.

Based on the forecast issued by LEDinside, it predicts that the application of the mid-small size backlight panel will still be the leading growing strength, possessing with 20%~30% growing space.

In light of the LED-packaging manufacturers, the operating revenue of Everlight in February was NTD 863 million (USD 28 million) and had still remained the top throne of the LED-packaging industry. Furthermore, due to the out-performed sales of mid-small size backlight panels, the YoY of Harvatek and Unity respectively showed 35.7% and 45.2% while comparing them to the same period of last year.

From the perspective of the LED crystal grain manufacturers including Epistar, Huga, Forepi, and Tekcore, since its operating revenue of Feb, 2007 was lower; the YoY of them had all exceeded 80%. As the forecasting goes, they will be still with the fairly good performance in the wake of the growing strength from the application of mid small size backlight panels in March.
